I use the RPE method and it got me to within 5lb of my max. The weeks leading up to that I was doing 1 rep of my estimated 3RM to get used to heavy singles

Use weighted gloves, do three minute rounds, 10 each burpees, lunges, squats, and kettlebell swings between rounds. If you make it over 5 rounds on that routine you're pretty much ready for apocalypse.
