Whenever I hear shows with atrocious audio I just can't deal with it anymore. I'm no paragon of audio issues (I'm still annoyed I couldn't fix that problem on the Striker episode), but when you're 60 episodes into a show and your co-host is talking into a tin can, fix that shit.

I'm constantly working on improving the audio and it's pretty obvious that there is a gulf of difference between a co-host having awful audio and a guest having middling audio

When you add music on do you do it to the original podcast recording, as in, do you apply your master fader effects to both the podcast and the music? Because you can render out the cast with that type of mastering and then add the music in on another clean set if u want

Third Rail the opening music is live. Poz Button is post as I start in medias res so I can't play the music live. I tend to levelate the show with the music to equalize the levels. I should probably stop doing that.

I would record the cast with no music, master it, render it out, make a new instance of the DAW and load up the rendered track in that and add music/fade in there. This preserves the mastering on the show and the music.

Might even compress and limit this final track for more RMS balance.
