heard lots of stories about sasquatch style creatures using knocking or throwing stones to lure people into certain areas. one guy said this knocking sound lured them deep into the woods (to see what it was), then they saw big “folded trees”, heard something behind them + ran https://twitter.com/maldngflgh/status/1047451975070220293 …

My experience is having it get closer and closer to camp and having to shoot off rounds in fear after an ungodly gutteral chittering sound that was way to close. Stayed up all night clutching my AR. Powerful sense of foreboding.

do not want this. tbh though i am sketch about traditional weaponry against these things. no one has ever shot one, and their near perfect rate of taking people makes me think something transphysical or hypnotic is happening.

have heard stories of people being “struck dumb” in the woods, i.e being somewhere they’ve been 100 times and being totally lost, suddenly realizing the forest is totally quiet, running and suddenly ending up on a path they know very well. i think this is part of how they hunt

Missing 411. Have these things on you to avoid this fuckery: pistol, gps, dark colored clothing. If you have these, especially with a friend, do not lose sight of each other and whatever does this won't bother you. The woods are liminal and demand your respect.

You can also break branches to trace your path and there are protection stones you can carry. Anyone who grew up in the woods like we did knows that there are certain times and places where old magic rises up and that it's to be treated with reverence and respect.

Your woods seem so much more evil than my woods, I'm starting to believe the lack of harsh winter attracts bad cryptids

It's only certain areas and only at night usually. There is something particularly dark and "voodoo-esque" about the southern woods. This goes away in winter tho which adds to your theory.

Have seen many tales of strange things happening in northern woods... Always far, far away from roads or regularly trafficked trails. Many different cryptids, the ones that handle the cold are not to b trifled with

Seems like you have to fo further out up north, like they are more rare and more dangerous and hardy whereas down south they will be in the treeline of your yard at dusk lol.
