Only of you don't fundamentally understand the nature of random genetic mutation Upright walking may very well have been bred out had climates not been changing in that period

Yes... exactly.. whatever the most "useful" mutations do the best, meaning they're continued through pro-creation.

Even useful ones can die out, species die all the time, there are so many variables in play and ultimately its a collection of millions of individual quantifiable outcomes

I agree with you, but what you're saying is mostly transient. It's still demonstrable that natural selection is based around survival of the fittest and therefor a direct reaction (not random) to the environment.

Survival isn't always the fittest, even using a broad definition for "fit" ie clever, strong, agile, etc. But sometimes it's purely chance, wrong place wrong time. The development of mammals is a prime example. A few hundred mil years earlier and we wouldn't have stood a chance

Maybe not hundred mil but like 10-20 million, before dinosaurs went extinct

We can agree on that I suppose. I'm not really sure what the original conversation was about, or how this is relevant, though.

There's nothing better than finding some common ground with people who's opinions you're almost entirely opposed to, even if it's tiny.

That's exactly how I developed this ideology in the accelerationist context by talking to people seemingly totally opposed

We develop our ideas and opinions through discussion, whether it's through writing whole books for each other, or yelling at each other on twitter. It's fun and nice.
