I'm all for online flamewars but this is such a bad dis. We literally have waterproof phones and you think body mods wouldn't be waterproof?

do you imagine that the first iteration of whatever robot pocket pussy skeleton you're walking around in will be robust in every way?

It'd (subjectively) be an improvement over what's already there, or there'd be no point in doing it. And if my body mods fry if I go out in the rain, then they're not an improvement.

Why even have a body at all, why not asymptotic Landian transcendence via metashoggothic ultimate plasmality of form? Why be limited by archaic concepts like being and time and "body"? Y'all not even good transhumanists tbh.pic.twitter.com/bXGaMNiQVu

Earnestly this is remotely possible but not in time given current ecological limits among other physical restraints. Most of us aren't even prims but Kaczynskian technoskeptics and fans of not destroying the biosphere for plastic bullshit and ruined endocrine systems.

I'm not a fan of those things either, I don't think anyone is apart from the capitalists who profit from it. What I'm -also- not a fan of is abandoning human progress, rather than a) fixing the problems we've already created and b) improving ourselves and the world through tech.

Human progress isn't limited to the Technological vector and it isn't clesr by a longshot that it's even good. It's a trade off and to many it isn't worth it. The gamble is to try to reach a point where the cost pays off. Won't happen, too much dmg too fast.

I don't see a way of stopping it (technological progression), which is why I wish to create a world where hopefully it's not used to oppress. (hello? ANARCHO transhumanist). I agree there are huge issues, I just don't think that stopping progression is the answer.

It's very unlikely that it will stop, or that looming ecological crisis will be avoided. So best get ready imo.
