It's not a post punk album cover or some type of accelerationist art: it's the book cover for this edition of the Mūlamadhyamakakārikāpic.twitter.com/YIE803BRKx

To describe this text in classic rinzai pith: emptiness is itself empty, so mu.
McEvilley's "The Shape of Ancient Thought" is a thorough book with lots of interesting bits. But he suffers from hyper-modernist materialism. Every analog between Greece and India is described as if just an accidental exchange.
Where Indians & Greeks reach similar ideas, he says it's just a result of trade (as if it were grain or dyes); no truth or insight is ascribed to either party, and ruled right out is the possibility of pre-classical roots (shared P.I.E. proto-Vedic religion)
This is gay modernism and I hate this person.
Aye. I was so excited to receive this book in the mail because of the subject matter. Rarely have I been so disappointed.
I'll check this out in a bit. I'm thinking of writing am interpretation of nagarjuna from a traditional rinzai perspective just for fun. Should have done it when I was in school tho.
Should be interesting. This particular one is more between the most ancient Indian shaivas & Greek Cynics.
