I met him in person numerous times at MIT in the 90s, and he was just as awful and shitty as you say. But I'm not a dude, so I'm not your target audience here. I will back you up though, every time you say this. It's absolutely true. RMS is a terrible person.

I worked across the street from MIT for years and I know female MIT CS graduates, and I've heard enough stories that I've been wondering for months when his #MeToo moment would start.
The Boston Geek community is pretty tightly knit. Not surprised that this one gaining traction was super delayed. Also geeks in general have I think a well deserved reputation for falling for toxic masculinity's tricks.
