like, it’s not actually less safe in SF going by Compstat, and you’d have to free 75% of prisoners to get down to the incarceration rate i live with. incarceration is clearly not linked to crime rate, so why is this the DA’s fault?
Anecdotally, it is, and it’s what’s driving the backlash. Hard to compare pre and post covid numbers, because of lack of tourists and other effects of lockdowns. i know a few people in SF, who i’ve asked about this, and i’ve looked up the stats. i don’t mean to take away from how scary it is to have someone break into your garage, but just seems weird to see so many rich people push against CJ reform

I agree the optics around this can be weird. But even rich people deserve safety. Also, I haven’t seen people opposed to well thought out and executed reform, just opposed to
