Just to try it I am downloading Fedora and dual booting with elementary. It Should be enabled on at least gtk 3.18 if possible.

For you. For me a setting like that would just be noise so a net loss.

This setting is needed for mouse gestures to work on Linux and OS X, which is essential to me and many others to update to Firefox 57+.

I understand that. All I'm saying is that settings have a cost and that this particular setting being "100 times more important" than CSDs is biased.

Maybe it's biased, but a browser without mouse gestures is a no-go for me (and I'm not the only one).

It doesn't really need a separate API. All it needs is a setting to open the context menu when the mouse button is released (and not when the button is pressed as is currently the case on Linux & MacOS).
