So much work into this, and I think it's an awesome tool because: 1) It's entirely data-driven, everything including the text & analyses are automatically generated 2) It takes you step by step to a complex conclusion but doesn't hide the magic - it's supposed to be pedagogical

Biraz özgün, biraz yaratıcı olun be.

Love that has public profiles now. Just published the abbreviated history of browsers chart I produced last year with the crew:

LazyWeb: a former student is interested in attending tech conferences like : "technical, but diverse in topic and attendance and not overly industry-focused" (her words after looking at SL). Suggestions? Some travel is OK. And oh: she's a Julia obsessive. (-:

In my team at GitHub, we'd like to study examples of "nefarious commits" in open source, which introduce a bug on purpose. Can you point me at such commits? Could it have been detected by analysing the committer's behaviour as well as the code change itself?

This, but with mindfulness in general - it's good to be able to have the tools to cope with a bad situation, but you still have to (if you can, obviously) try to get the problem fixed / get away IMHO. It's healthier that way, but it's tempting / easy for me to stop short of that.

Julia Stiles as the school newspaper’s cyberpunk editor-in-chief on a 1994 episode of ‘Ghostwriter.’ I will never get tired of this clip.

This paper that improves clock synchronization accuracy to tens of nanoseconds is amazing work. What changes with that level of accuracy? Like the paper says, Spanner commit times get a lot shorter. But is it now safe to take action without coordination?

STEPHEN KING WRITING ABOUT LIVING IN NEW ENGLAND: The old man who ran the town dump communed with darkness. He kept a Hand of Glory in a 1982 Boston Bruins mug. Crows and bats were his to command. ME AFTER MOVING TO NEW ENGLAND: Jesus, I used to think Stephen King made shit up.

Easy to imagine Rand Paul or some other showboat politician playing stupid and complaining about this. "These wasteful, opportunistic scientists used public funds to study how we can keep Chinese bats from catching the common cold."

Here's your periodic reminder that basic research is only "useless" until it suddenly becomes the most important thing in the world. 20 years ago, coronavirology was an obscure sub-field the public never heard about. Good thing we funded it anyway.
