I’ve stopped using “soft skills” and started saying “professional skills” instead. The ability to communicate, organize, motivate, etc are essential - they are professional skills because it’s hard to be a successful professional without them.

Scholarly critique, holiday style: If unsure, ask a question instead of making an assertion If your argument relies on assuming others' intentions, probably not a good argument If your argument must invoke another's identity, probably not a good argument Reduce judgmentalism

There’s a difference between being critical of your work and being critical of yourself Being critical of your work lets you find weaknesses before others do and fix them Being critical of yourself destroys your confidence Stay critical of your work and be kind to yourself
