Claiming that the DNC rigged the Iowa results against Bernie is a lot worse than putting the typical campaign spin on the results. But maybe that nuance is lost on America now

There’s a strong effort by Bernie supporters to argue that the online conspiracy mongers are just obnoxious randos. But they already include a member of Congress (Ilhan Omar) and an NYT opinion writer (Liz Bruenig).

More to the point, other candidates’ complaints are essentially limited to Iowa’s failures. In Bernie supporters’ case, it’s another piece of evidence for a vast conspiracy against Bernie by the “Democratic establishment”—an idea the GOP pushes with outright glee.

We can question: -Caucuses generally & -Failures in the process of a specific caucus w/out questioning: -motivations of people or -the ultimate quality of the data (which will be quite good)

Again, I know it's weird to say that a process that is inherently unfair has integrity, but I'm referring to *internal* integrity. Insofar as people are carrying out a caucus, they want the caucus to go well and for the results to be accurate.

Caucuses are flawed & anti-democratic. We should abolish them. But the people who are actually invested in carrying them out--such as everyone who is working in Iowa right now--are invested that the process has integrity.

I'm sure there are many people working very hard in Iowa right now to make sure everything matches up. None of them are trying to rig anything. Again, the data exist in multiple forms, as far as I can tell.

We have the Iowa data in multiple forms. I don't think anyone should be calling the data themselves into question. Criticizing the caucus process--both specifically (last night) and more generally (the nature of caucuses)--seems fine. But there's no reason to question the data.

Illinois + Nevada + South Carolina + New Hampshire would be a decently representative group of states. Rotate the order every 4 years.

I think some people are referring to this? I'm not sure I understand that argument, but am open to being persuaded. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it does seem like there were errors in reporting the data. That doesn't entail the data themselves are flawed.

I'm seeing people I trust say that Biden's team also promoted conspiracy theories, but I can't figure out how. I'm not trying to be combative, but am just looking for information.

From my own experience, the staff and volunteers of the Iowa Dems are good, honest people. If your analysis of what went wrong with the reporting system doesn't begin with that premise, I am not interested in it. We can criticize without impugning character.

Neera is right. There was no meeting like that. None in April. None with that goal. Quite the contrary: The goal was purely how to keep the party on track to win regardless of candidate. To maintain unity behind any and all candidates. I know. I set it up.

One thing that *all* the data seems to agree upon is that Sanders didn't add many voters from the 1st alignment to the 2nd alignment. Meaning, relatively few people who didn't caucus with him initially joined him later on.

I see why people like this guy. No mattter how muddled things get, he consistently finds the dumbest take that also sounds like something your uncle would say

This is a lie. I’ve never been in a meeting to discuss stopping Sanders. The meeting this is referencing was about Democratic messaging. organized it. It was misreported.

Thanks for reminding people of your specific role on the URC and how you defended caucuses. And reminding people that only one current campaign had reps on the URC. Here’s a record. See your last tweet.
