Like the anti-vaccine movement, they have internalized not being listened to as a value that imparts a sort of virtue. Not because they are right on the policy or the politics- rather simply because they are dismissed they feel their cause is righteous.

Being dismissed and not listened to becomes an internalized community value. In a perverse way it shows how committed you are to the cause. It leads to fring beliefs, radicalized opinions and unfortunately, sometimes it can turn violent.
