Yes, #SCOTUS ruled that school-sponsored prayer, even nondenominational prayer, violates 1st amend.
But the decision does NOT prohibit prayer or religious expression at school.
In TX, schools must have daily 1 min moment of silence where students can pray.

Also, there is no policy prohibiting the discussion of current events in school — including mass shootings. Even if teach doesn't mention it in class, students are free to discuss in one-on-one conversations with teachers, school counselors or w other students.

In Louisiana, the legislature just passed a law mandating that _public_ schools post "IN GOD WE TRUST" at their entrances. Which isn't as big a win as you'd think, considering that there are hardly any public schools left because of voucher programs replacing them with charters.
