Happy ! Can you guess which animal made this well-preserved mess? A giant ground sloth! This specimen was found in Mylodon Cave in Chile. See this preserved poop up close on the Museum’s second floor!🦥💩

Close up of a pile of well-preserved sloth poop. It has a swirled, triangular shape.

Yes, crazy story. Eugene Semple wanted to cut a South Canal through Beacon Hill to link fresh and salt water. He succeeded for a year or two until the City Council cut off his water. Here's a shot showing the work that was done. He used hydraulic giants to wash the soil away.

Treaties dating back to the mid-1800s guarantee the Upper Skagit Tribe the right to hunt and fish in Washington's Skagit Valley. They also grant them a role in fish and wildlife management. Now, tribal members say those rights are under attack.

Clearing our state's highways and mountain passes of snow is not easy now and it wasn't any easier using a steam shovel or team of horses 90 years ago, either.

As wildfires tear through Australia, a specialized team of firefighters has managed to save hidden groves of the Wollemi pine — a rare prehistoric tree that outlived the dinosaurs. The trees are so rare, they were thought to be extinct until 1994.

I know it's a complex issue but for my simple mind why can't we stop recreational, commercial, and tribal fishing for Chinook (King) salmon in the PNW to save the southern resident orcas?? Yes, long term solutions are needed but we may not have a lot of time left.
