Do you mean the option in Developer Settings? That doesn't really hide the notch. It reduces the screen real estate in fact
-
We understand, Nikhils. Thanks for your feedback.
-
You didn't really answer the question. Is the option you are referring to a new setting or are you referring to the option in the developer settings?
-
@madebygoogle Don't worry to much about what these people are complaining about. Your loyal customers don't mind the notch. -
No, loyal customers don't want to see them just copy other devices.

I like this. Still access to notifications without losing screen real estate
-
Agreed, almost think this should be the default. Looks a lot better and is more balanced with the lower chin.
-
I almost would like notifications section having an eink display but it doesn't make sense to have 2 technologies on the same side. Would break it up too much.

How embarrassing. This is coming from an OG XL and XL2 owner: you guys completely missed it with pricing on these two devices. Ridiculous notch design notwithstanding, why am I paying $1000 for a phone with 4GB's of RAM and 128GB's of storage? I will not be buying an XL3.
-
Modern smartphones don't really need more than 4GB of RAM and if anything, it's more of an excuse for poor optimization than it is benefits for the customer. That's why the 2XL is as fast or even faster at times than the 1+6 despite having less RAM
-
Understood, but most modern flagships are upping RAM and storage. If
@google is not, why are we still paying premium pricing for less than premium hardware? -
Because you're paying for performance, not hardware. RAM doesn't have to be expensive, the R&D that goes into a high performing phone is. If you want more RAM just for the sake of a larger number, buy a different phone.
-
I didn't realize
@google was the only smartphone manufacturer with an R&D department. - 2 more replies

You mean for people that prefer a screen to be functional as apposed a stupid "I can do that too" design aesthetic. Call me when there is
#NoNotchThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Please give us multiple options for the visual look of hiding the notch. I prefer a black bar but leaving notifications visible.pic.twitter.com/HaDUhgh2Ow

I wouldn't mind this to be honest
