    I’ve been helping to baby-sit my year old grandson this past week & it’s brought home to me the stark reality of this image. I salute every working woman & acknowledge that their successes have required a much greater amount of effort than their male counterparts

    My would have benefited from more positive feedback during my PhD. Mentors - constructive criticism is good, but please also be sure to make a point of noting what your students are doing well; it can be a great lift!

    I worked as a housing tester once, paired with a white woman whose profile was less attractive than mine in every way except race. I'd be told with the nicest smiles that there were no units, so nice that I believed them--until she'd come back to the car w/ move-in offers for 3!
