In my opinion, at this juncture, there is more risk in not knowing about crypto and decentralized finance than investing some time to know and learn.

Disagree, it’s just not that complicated compared to a lot of tradfi. Different paradigm but not intrinsically harder. We used to expect new grads to learn about and trade complicated structured products in 1-2 years, no reason this would take longer.

I dunno, I think it's a lot more tractable to understand crypto as a CS person. I've had some difficulty explaining it to non-CS people. I'd imagine quant side would be a lot simpler/easier.

If there's enough money at stake I've usually found non technical people to be extremely receptive to technical explanations.
