I don’t know why there are lockdowns in Europe now btw. I don’t think we need lockdowns or travel bans any more, except maybe in countries where vax rates are very low. But we’re in a v different situation today vs 2020.
The other thing that I saw far less of than I expected was cost v QALY-modelling for both covid and restrictions. Anywhere with public healthcare already prices lives (or QALY’s), so isn’t this a natural framework to start from? (I recognise that modelling would start out … 1/n
That’s one view. Just because a select committee still under the influence of select scientists who have every incentive to analyse things from that perspective have deemed it that way doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a fair judgment or one that won’t itself be re-examined.

Fascinating analysis. And btw I wasn’t “pro brexit”. I was firmly on the fence siding with remain to begin with, but edged towards brexit by the time of the vote. And my position is and always has been that both sides have a lot right and a lot wrong about them.
