In case its' not clear, Eric's new deaths chart for the first wave cuts off at the red line below. The first wave got *a lot* worse as cases/deaths continued to increase. But Omicron new cases have already peaked in SA, and new deaths will peak soon.pic.twitter.com/vYhfdmuBdt

I agree that his thread is a bad misrepresentation to make things seem worse but cases in the first wave would also be higher than the recorded number because we were still developing testing capacity

It’s true! But I don’t think you can hide the fact that cases (and deaths) peaked months later in the first wave, whereas they have already peaked in the current wave.
