In my 13yrs options trading career I never traded iron condor or a Christmas tree strategy. I guess I'm doing something wrong

That does seem odd. Flies / condors / ratioes are typically excellent ways to make bets on the vol smile / implied probability distribution. At the very least they are helpful ways to rebalance your portfolio.
Not an options guy. But yeah I could definitely see a use for condors for professional traders who need to manage a book, tweaking exposure at exactly one point on the surface, or expressing a precise view on the distribution. Less obvious that there’s a use case for retail.
