We once went to a course at the Wine and Spirit Trust in London (great place) where one wine was described by a fellow student as “barnyardy” and everyone assented enthusiastically. There are no limits to wine snobbery.
Barnyardy is a completely normal word to describe wine! It’s a particular aroma that reminds you of horses or stables. Often caused by brettanomyces yeast. You get it in low intervention wines, eg some older Chateau Musar, or in a lot of natural wines.
Same with beer and cider too. Brett is really common. That student did well to pick it out.
