I think this is more a function of how they chose to enter the specific market. The library itself isn't really the issue and they likely would have ran into the same problems even if they ran their own ML implementation

agree with that but the point is the kind of person who learned statistics at a deep level automatically thinks about the underlying selection bias issues here, versus the kind of person who learned to import a high level python library

I dunno that bias seemed obvious enough from the go that my 6yo could have spotted it…
