I was born about 5-6 years too late to enjoy the fun internet. I mean ive used forums for many hobbies, but somehow toxicity/trolling/crappy people always find ways to ruin stuff.
Hate to ruin your bucolic vision of the past, but toxicity and trolling already existed on the internet in the mid 90s, we just called it a “flame war” at the time.

Funny how human psychology works sometimes... I dont know how many hours I burned on chocobo breeding and racing, but it probably rivals longer then AAA RPGs of today. Not sure if you still play FF these days, but FFXIV has a decent evolution to the concept.
