Eh ... I can see this one both ways. Getting some help is necessary in lots of cases (single parents, two working parents, no nearby relatives, shift work etc). But 24/7 help?

with two small kids and a baby and a trauma surgeon and a derivs manager, this is a bad take "child care present" does not equal "is taking care of all the children at the same time and you are not involved"

I guess I'll let you know when I have another two kids - apart from that our life situation doesn't sound that different. FWIW you seem like a good dad. I agree it is hard!https://twitter.com/macrocephalopod/status/1445016186429784071?s=20 …

yeah i mean i'm glad you manage, but this whole "if you have a lot of child care why do you even have kids" vibe, we don't like that or need that, we don't need to project our own situations onto others

also, like, you're an octopus , you could probably change the baby's poop with two hands while coding with two hands and cooking for the big kids with two hands and vacuuming with the others etc, i sadly am not an octopus

Hard to hit the right keys when you have suckers instead of fingers. There’s a few things that make this work for me - eg can drop my kid off at daycare at 8am and be at work at 8.30am. My wife works shifts but they are predictable and I can be home for 6.30pm when needed etc.
