i can’t get over the 24/7 nanny thing…. like, why’d you even have a kid?

Eh ... I can see this one both ways. Getting some help is necessary in lots of cases (single parents, two working parents, no nearby relatives, shift work etc). But 24/7 help?
I work long hours, my wife works long hours and shift work - we have a nanny from about 3.30pm to 6.30pm weekdays and occasionally outside of that, otherwise we manage.

I had a fun chat with my mum the other day, with her initially asking "and how did I manage with you just by myself". Well mum, you had your mum, neighbours/relatives and dad who was at work 9-5 + commute. And I was a QUIET CHILD MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS.

Our toddler on the other hand is full on running round, shouting, telling everyone what to do from 6am. Do they do hamster wheels for 3 year olds?
