In any case the argument is pointless because afaik no one has made an NFT of a physical diamond and successfully sold it for an amount of money > 0. The entire debate is nonsense because it simply does not correspond to any physical reality. Sound and fury, signifying nothing.

ironically, if I actually end up buying a diamond NFT, approximately 100% of the value derives from this conversation rather than any diamond. Really more of a low-grade meme NFT with some beta to your twitter follows.

To make matters marginally more absurd, in cases I’m familiar with the image itself isn’t even “on the blockchain.” It’s just a web address pointing to a hosting site. If that file is taken offline, you’ve just got a non-fungible 404.

This is just financial engineering in progress. An NFT [could] just be a contract with blockchain stuck to it to make it easy to trade. The contract could be a typical futurescontract or an ownership contract. Haven't run into such an NFT yet though (and it would be a non-N FT)
