Canada would be 4, then 5 for combined masters/PhD and similar in the US. What’s super interesting about Canada is the real stats are in math and econ and social sciences and certainly not in finance or commerce (apparently some schools in the US actually have real math in fin)

We didn't have a Stats department. Still don't, but you can do joint grad degrees now.

It's a different system for sure. Both produce good people. Frankly I liked having the extra year to explore other areas of interest. You really need to know what you want to do in UK by the time you sit for your A Levels. Not so much here in the US.

Yup specialising early is def weird. Eg medicine is an undergrad degree so if you want to be a doctor you essentially need to know that by age 16 so you can take the right classes to get into undergrad med school.
