Wish you were here might be one of my favorite albums of all time, for SYD 1-6 and SYD 6-9 alone. 6-9 is one of my favorite compositions ever. Fell in love with it ever since I was a kid. Especially part that sounds like a detective (6:02 = magic)

Dunno what you’re already familiar with but most modern prog is either metal (Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Anathema) or kind of metal-adjacent (Tool, Fantomas). I’ll also throw in Mr Bungle and Tub Ring as more niche-y recommendations.
