I can’t believe someone seriously makes this argument when private school kids make up 7% of students but ~40% of Oxbridge intake. Going to private school is still a massive advantage, just slightly less than it was a decade ago

And that reduced advantage is against a backdrop of structural forces which make coming from wealth an even more potent force given persistence of economic rank across generations through various channels.
