I hope the @emilyaccount drama draws attention to the vastly different experiences that many fintwit women have on this platform compared to fintwit men.

agree generally, although in this specific case I think the combo of Citadel swag and playing perfectly into WSB conspiracy theories would have triggered the ape swarm either way

Totally, but I'd also argue the criteria for what constitutes 'jokes/trolling' is very different for male vs. female accounts.

What happened wasn't an male/female thing. She angered the ape crowd by claiming to be an insider for her own shits and giggles. This was unacceptable behavior to have it come off as legitimate information and she got heat from it, and would have happened no matter what gender

@macrocephalopod. How many people have come to you wondering if you're actually Emily? Let's compare that to one of the ladies' counts.....1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

Yeah I posted similar stuff (it’s still on my timeline) and I have got zero threatening DMs, zero people trying to dox me, zero people asking if I am really Emily or asking if I know who she is. It’s obviously a gender thing.

Compare to e.g. @Bonecondor who has a million DMs from creepy idiots, the stuff women have to deal with on this site is a whole level of bullshit I am lucky I don’t have to experience.
