Tesla have committed not to sell any of the Bitcoin that they receive for selling cars, but there is nothing to stop them from selling some of the $1.5 billion of BTC that they bought earlier this year

Seems this release is all about setting up a moralistic front for selling their BTC in order to make future quarterly estimates. “We have decided to sell a portion of our BTC holdings as an incentive to BTC developers to provide a more ecologically-attuned mining algorithm.”
