Is it seriously the case that children over 2 years old have to wear masks on planes in the US now? I have no words.

Literally all children in Hong Kong over two years old have to wear masks and the city and kids are doing fine. What’s the issue with kids wearing masks?

Well perhaps that’s what cultural differences are all about. Masks on 2-6 year olds to me is child abuse. But thanks for the feedback.

It’s not a cultural difference, it’s a matter of public health. But perhaps this isn’t the best platform for this discussion.

It isn’t. And it is a cultural thing especially given the absolutely marginal evidence in favour of masks actually making a difference. Some cultures don’t mind beating their children either. It’s a trade off between two harms. And given children are not at risk .. well. Nuf said

Izzy you can think that masks on children is pointless, but please don’t compare it to actual child abuse, even for rhetorical purposes.

Why not Robin? Do we condone inappropriate touching of children? No. I consider mask on two year olds smothering. The WHO guidelines specifically do not recommend masks for under fives on the back of a do no harm principle.

Countries that have policies for masks on children under five are operating in contravention to WHO guidelines. And I am absolutely entitled to consider it child abuse.

No you are not. Its silly on logical grounds - contravention of WHO guidelines is not the same as *breaking the actual law* - and insulting to any child who has suffered actual abuse.

Disagree. Not least because what is considered abusive is entirely culturally subjective. As we know by varying laws all around the world with respect to what qualifies as abuse.

The difference between putting a mask on a child and fucking a child is “culturally subjective” uhhhh ok.
