My only take on high school math is fuck trigonometry — people who get to complex numbers can treat all of trig as a mildly interesting corollary, essentially no one else needs to know it.

they didn't have trigonometry at my high school, just algebra II, precalculus and calculus

My school went Freshman: Algebra, Sophomore: geometry, Junior: algebra II and Trigonometry, Senior: Precalc and statistics. If you took algebra in 8th grade you ended up being ahead and senior year you took Calc 1 and 2.

Amen! As someone who's spent almost a decade teaching/tutoring couldn't agree more. That being said, one thing I've noticed about calc is how many kids are kinda forced into it (schools look better apparently), it's amazing how many kids who struggle with basics are in it...
