So what is this "actually the vaccines are a bit crap" rhetoric all about? The conflicting messaging is infuriating. If the vaccines are crap, why does everyone have to take them? If they are crap, why are the related risks worth it? Do they want uptake or not?
In the UK it is straightforwardly true that the drop in cases is mostly due to lockdowns, not vaccinations. The drop started well before the vaccine rollout accelerated (in fact most people are still not vaccinated!)
The Boris article you linked to even says "no reason to change the roadmap for easing lockdown restrictions". You are seeing a conspiracy where there is none.
