For first jobs same applies, but be aware if you work in one asset class for more than a few years you start to get pigeonholed and it can be harder to move. Ideally work with a great team for 2-3 years to learn, then you can try to move based on asset class preferences.

Appreciate the perspectives! The explore vs exploit tradeoff seems quite thorny, but I guess that's a problem to worry about a few years down the road

Co-sign Your formative years and understanding of markets is a critical period. Like a baby's nutrition. Focusing on being with a good team above all else when you are young is top priority. It will serve you well with whatever you do later

Started on SIG’s sell side NASDAQ desk. Oof, got off that one at first possible opportunity, but I did get 3 months of my own book before becoming a Trader (and moving to FI), which was kinda cool
