One unexpected upside of the culture war is that it makes kids more eager to learn. Kids love forbidden knowledge, and this has been growing rapidly as more ideas get banned.
So "banned" actually means "discouraged for employees of a few specific tech companies"? Comprising, by my rough estimate, 0.09% of the adult population of the US?

Absolutely. For example, religion previously occupied a large space in social discourse while employing relatively few people. The actions of the church had reverberations throughout all of society and culture.
