One unexpected upside of the culture war is that it makes kids more eager to learn. Kids love forbidden knowledge, and this has been growing rapidly as more ideas get banned.

A lot of those posts are discussing the implications! You certainly seem happy enough to have a discussion about it online, using what I presume is your real name, which is weird if this is really a banned topic.
This is my point. There are a ton of topics that are supposedly “banned” or “taboo” and yet people seem totally happy to discuss them, using their real names, at length. Feel free to DM me if there are parts of this topic you think are too sensitive to discuss in public btw!

Your definition of “banned” is useless as there will always be pockets of acceptability where certain topics can be discussed. If you are not able to discuss certain topics for fear of retribution from contemporary powerful institutions (now: tech, prev: religion): banned.

I’d say that a definition of “banned” which allows most people to discuss the topic openly and at length, should they wish to, is not a particularly accurate use of the word “banned”.
