Saw a CV from a candidate who claimed he had "the largest P&L of any trader" in his old firm and I feel like that can be read in more than one way
Ugh yes. Some egregious examples where if you took the candidate at face value and backed it out from the firm's public track record it implied that the rest of the firm was collectively losing money every year.

But what if they are right? My previous firm actually did hire an analyst from our competitor. The analyst was pretty much carrying the team, and he continued that good performance at our firm. He showed us his stock picks, time-stamped and all.

Tbf, he came from a small shop. Don’t think it’s possible for a large fund.
