The brilliance of Soros lies not in trading style, but ability to assess confidence in a trade and determine trading size. He creates convexity by adjusting positioning size (at times up to 11) and having an accurate understanding of payoff/probability before executing the trade
Agree but this is quite similar to (not exactly the same as) a combination of “trend following” and “good risk management”

True, but how many traders have you worked with/know who are truly great at correctly assessing the merits of a trade in advance though? This seems to be an uncorrelated strat so let's incorporate it into our book VS This is great; reduce all our other positions & go all in.

Perhaps I'm glorifying one of my heroes a bit, but I too want to be able to identify and go all in if I ever find a trade that is once-in-a-decade or once-in-a-lifetime. How many people would be able to grasp a trade is that special in advance... and bet the farm if they do?
