no pfof directly implies commission on every retail trade. spreads would have to be v large in order for retail to do better than MM PI - commission cost

probably true, but i bet retail participation would drop precipitously. depends what you’re optimizing for i guess
discouraging retail from day trading seems like... a good thing, to me? like there are a few big examples (gme, tsla, ark) where retail made a lot of money from fast trading (so far) but I bet that they still lost money overall if you aggregate the last ~10 years

they’re usually discouraged from day trading by PDT, no? philosophically, it makes the most sense to me to have the lowest barrier to market entry possible. why not? losing money is bad but ostensibly you knew the risks going in

is day trading ark even ideal? probably would have been best to just put money in and leave it.

most day traders I see compare their day trading strategy against the 0% return benchmark instead of the correct buy and hold benchmark
