I'm not as privy to it but part of why I lied as to my salary was because I'd imagine if you're hiring someone and you find out they're making *significantly* less than your offer, it'd make you wonder if they're as good as they say.

but I agree, if you're given a range, obvi they'll want to get you placed and will absolutely sacrifice the latter for the former, but I don't think it's so linear; perhaps more polynomial

direct hire. i was v naive coming out of school, i just thought finance was neat

only handshake is good for right out of school if u go to at least a semi-target ime (linkedin and recruiters are useless tho did get one interview for a role at a decent name firm, one of those that test math at a super high level and then all u actually do is build dashboards)
