Lopez de Prado may have the biggest ego in quant finance. Haven't watched the talk but if it's anything like his writing he will be saying largely correct things that ~everyone already knows and spinning them as if they are novel insights that only his gigantic brain is privy to

There's a difference between communicating because you genuinely want to spread knowledge, and communicating because you are grifting for your personal brand. Compare a book by Antti Ilmanen or Emanuel Derman to one of Lopez de Prado's books. Huge difference in tone.
