I’ve worked for a few funds were I’ve had no possibility to put my own capital at risk, in the strategies I’ve managed. I’ve worked for a few big firms where the principals had zero at risk. Both long only and HF. But I agree, skin in the game is important but not always there
Really surprised to hear that there are hedge funds where the principals do not have their own money in there.

The usual answer is that they have skin in the game through the business they run and own. Some investors accept it, others not.
