      South Korea also classified as an EM by some (eg MSCI I think?) which is a bit crazy.

      In my models I group it with Japan/NZ/Aus as an AP developed market.

          It’s completely insane Korea is still classified as EM IMO. Not even sure what they could do to change that. Reporting standards on Chaebol ownership or something?

          IIRC China and South Korea have extensive capital controls - you can’t trade KRW or CNY directly and have to trade NDFs (non-deliverable forwards) instead. Hence they remain EM.
