When I used to work at {big investment bank}, optimise my leaving time based on the thresholds for getting a free dinner or free taxi home.
I also resigned from that job after 1 year and 1 day so that I wouldn’t have to pay back my signing bonus.

It wasn’t the best job but had great opportunities for treating yourself.

Nowadays if I go on a business trip to a cool city I book an Airbnb apartment instead of a hotel room, fly my wife and kid over on points, and extend by a couple of days to get a free holiday
