Is there another point?

I kind of view most of human communication as storytelling. We tell each other stories about things that have happened to us, we direct movies about stories both real and imagined, we read books that are retelling of stories that lead to other stories, or imagined stories... 1/2

So if most of communication and interaction is expressing past or imagined stories, and this does apply to songs (singing about stories), paintings (an instant in time in a story) and poems (writing indirectly about stories), is there another point than figuring out the story?

Well, there are only six types of story, so you should stop consuming narrative driven art full stop. Unless, of course, you can find value in something other than plot points. Otherwise The Old Man and The Sea is about fishing.https://www.mhpbooks.com/there-are-only-six-kinds-of-story/ …

A little more than reductionist on your end. I didn’t say “the theme of the story must be different”, and that certainly doesn’t mean I should “stop consuming art”?

.... Now take that same critical lens towards reductionism and examine your own point of view.

My not wanting to rewatch a movie has absolutely nothing to do with how I should or shouldn’t consume art. You reducing all art to be the same thing is missing the point. I don’t rewatch movies. Doesn’t mean you get to tell me how I “should” or shouldn’t consume art.

I don’t have a problem with reoccurring themes. I never said I did. I have an issue watching the same exact thing again. Same way I don’t want to hear my friend tell the same story over and over again. But sure, tell me how to consume all art. Give me a break.

Like, by this logic you’ve said that since one friend has told me a story about her boyfriend, that’s the same as every friend telling me about their boyfriend, and I shouldn’t consume any stories about partners, when I’ve said I have no interest in the same particulars twice

In fairness I have no interest in hearing stories about my friends partners.
