Interested in #gameaudio and #gamemusic? I've partnered with some friends to help send 5 people to @Official_GDC 2023. Stan LePard was a welcoming presence to new faces in the game audio community and we hope to carry on his legacy. Go to stanlepard-gdc.com for more info.

Friendly reminder that there's just a little over a week until submissions close for this. This is an amazing opportunity I'm so happy to share with the #gameaudio and #gamemusic communities. If you have any interest at all in these career paths, please don't hesitate to apply!

Remember this from yesterday? One thing I wanted to clarify is that this scholarship only covers the GDC audio track pass, not travel or lodging, unfortunately. It does also include a daily stipend, however, to offset some of the cost of being in SF for a week. #gameaudio

Retweets appreciated. I know I did the dramatic "I'm quitting Twitter" thing a couple weeks ago, but this is important to me and worth using whatever influence I have on this platform to try to spread as far and wide as possible. Thank you!

We started this scholarship in 2021 and it was a wonderful. GDC is a tremendous experience, but it is often out of reach for younger folks just starting their journey into games. We're trying to do what we can to bring new and underrepresented voices into our community.

But I'm not leaving until they permanently delete this place. It's fun to watch it burn. Fortunately I have the world's most easily googlable name, so you can find me on all the usurper social media sites when/if this goes away. I've already reserved my place at the kids' table.

Had the pleasure of seeing Encanto at the Hollywood Bowl last night. This kind of thing is one of the reasons I love living in the LA. It was also taped for Disney+ in the future. It was like a full Broadway show w/ sets, projection mapping, and the original cast doing the songs.

The stress of productions often gets dumped on those at the end of the line, which almost always includeds sound and music. It's happened to me from time to time. You get used to having to deal with some stress, but this is another level. Why treat a pillar of the game so poorly?

I just finished reading this and YIKES. The disparity between the 2016 and 2019 soundtracks and their quality never made sense to me. I've seen Mick talk about the 2016 one with so much passion, I couldn't reconcile what was happening with the 2019 OST. What a nightmare.

Marty Stratton, @idSoftware Studio Director, lied about @DOOM Eternal's OST events in a Reddit post that used disinformation to blame me entirely for its failure Later, he offered me a six-figure sum to never speak about it The truth is more important. link.medium.com/USjGbPeBOub

I do love the The Strokes' 1st album, as well as much of LCD Soundsystem's stuff. The rest I didn't like at the time and don't think is all that great 20 years on. But it was definitely a "moment" and I guess worth talking about. Maybe if only to just ask "what was the big deal?"

I saw this trailer this morning, and of course there they were, along with a bunch of other "important bands". It's weird having documentaries made about a time when you were a fully formed adult and very much involved in the scene being depicted.

I've had this thought rattling around in my head for a bit that there was a time when we (meaning my rock and roll friends from my 20s) all thought Interpol was an "important band". Now no one talks about them. I was never much of a fan, but they were so prevalent in the 2000s.

I know it's not a competition, but of all the early 2000s indie bands, The Shins were always my fave and the ones that I think have stood the test of time better than most based on the extremely high quality of James Mercer's songwriting. He's so good.

I voted! Voting is weird and annoying in the US (especially if you live in CA and have 10,000 ballot initiatives to sort through every cycle) but it's also very important! If you are eligible and haven't voted yet, I encourage you to. It's the only real power we have as citizens.
