This is an important thing to remember. Australia is not much better. Our country has had such a long history of Racism since it's colonisation by the British people in 1788. It was sorry day on Tuesday, a day that has to exist due to our people's past and present wrongdoings.https://twitter.com/amymcquire/status/1266571471297540100 …

It was a good start, remembering that before its inception, there was no attempt to reconcile for past mistakes. I agree with you though, more should be done.

In 2008, after 150+ years of slavery, stealing children from their families and oppression of the Aboriginal people, Kevin Rudd gave a half assed apology which was a RECOMMENDATION?? by the The National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal Children from their Families.

Rudds apology wasn’t really half assed it seemed very heartfelt. He has made significant contributions to the aborigional community through close the gap (which would be better under labor) and trying to pass his ets to reduce negative impacts of climate change on the community

Oh also this is quite a poor mischaracterization because the coming home report actually came out 10 years before Kevin Rudd was elected I’m pretty sure it was one of the first things he did in his term. It’s not like he had his advisors screaming at him to do it.
