The 11th gen Intel Nucs are looking pretty solid. They will make for wonderful homelab units once VMWare adds support for Intel i225

When I’ve got my intel nuc skull it was for home labs as well.. I played with it 1 weekend and up it went to the started-and-not-finished-bin
But I’ve found myself doing more ideas in GCP VMs or some service, as is so fast and clean is easier to go for idea to finish 
I've been running a NUC-based Vmware homelab for years! I agree cloud iaas is easier for small VM projects but not very cost-effective for larger scale things like my Splunk and ELK clusters :)

Actually this is my to do for next year: do a Splunk Iab and finally re span my YouTube channel
But I try to convince (read bribe) my husband to do the infra because I have no time 
And want just to do the fun stuff
